Book Overview

Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. (Proverbs 30:8) One of the most difficult questions facing Christians today is that of the proper attitude toward possessions. Confirmed my fear that my 'generosity' was far from generous

This book is just fantastic. I have always held a sneaking suspicion that my generosity was far from generous. But, the fact that money is a taboo topic in many a church meant that I was not sure exactly what was expected of me in this area of life. So to read a book like this, which works through all the biblical material and reveals the fulness of biblical thought on the matter of possessions and giving, was mind blowing. The only problem with the book? It requires change - change in your thinking, your living and most importantly your use of money to glorify God.

Well Rounded Scholarship...

The NEW STUDIES IN BIBLICAL THEOLOGY series, edited by D.A. Carson, is exciting primarily because it's so refreshing to see so much truly scholarly work coming from the Evangelical camp. In Blomberg's contribution, he surveys all of the relevant Biblical data concerning material possessions, and lays out an informed and challenging, but well-balanced theology of wealth. This volume is a great companion to Ron Sider's RICH CHRISTIANS IN AN AGE OF HUNGER, adding balance, yet also confirming some of his more radical views.
