A Great Introduction to Nehemiah

"Nehemiah: Becoming a Disciplined Leader" is an installment in the Men of Character series by Gene Getz. This particular title is about the man who led the rebuilding of the wall around Jerusalem. The book is about 190 pages and contains 12 chapters, some of which are titled: 1. A Powerful Prayer Process 2. A Great Leadership Model 3. Overcoming Discouragement 4. Handling a Conspiracy 5. Conflict Resolution 6. Promotion With a Proper Perspective 7. When People Try to Hurt You 8. A Leader's Toughest Task Each chapter is around 15 pages and contains some principles to consider at the end of each chapter. I particularly liked the chapter on "Promotion With a Proper Perspective" as the author gives the reader things to consider before accepting or rejecting a promotion offer. The reader will learn valuable principles for being an effective leader for God's glory and not for self-glorification. Read and be challenged and encouraged. Highly recommended.

Nehemiah

This is an excellent resource to be used in conjunction with the Bible. I used this during a recent Bible Study I taught and it provided great information and details as well as practical life application. I would recommend this book for use by anyone seeking a greater depth of knowledge of Nehemiah.

To the work!

I first read this book when it came out and flip through it again from time to time. Solid truths that are easy to understand and apply are the hallmark of Getz's writing style, perhaps the most important being that any leader should seek God's direction through earnest prayer and then join in the work. An enlightening and quick read. I also recommend the book on David.
