Meanwhile, Nego-azaiacu, God of Weird Stains and Foul Odors, has been banished from the Lesser Gods by Marzipan, Lord of the Sugar Biscuits. Now he has a plan to regain their favor, and wants to pitch it to them during a sumptuous banquet. His ghoulish minions are abducting people from Navarre to marinate in his hell-gravy, and Brenda is one of those victims.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, an entire nation is on the move, led by a queen seeking asylum in Navarre. Little do they know that the land of their salvation is beset on all sides. Civil unrest seethes in the capital. Open rebellion is at hand, and an ancient evil stirs in the tunnels that honeycomb the troubled land.
