Two children walk through the woods with a guide, exploring trails and observing nature around them. This description may be from another edition of this product.
Nature Walk is a very clever, well-put-together book suitable for school and at-home reading. The large-print text is simple and rhyming, which makes it good for the beginning reader. Used as a read-aloud lap book, it is good for preschoolers, and the short rhyme holds their attention. I would read it to toddlers, too--can you find the rabbit hidden on each page? At the back of the book is an illustrated list of plants and animals for readers to find, a good activity for parent and child to do together. The oil pastel illustrations are a good art role model for children, since the medium looks like the crayons that most children draw with. I teach a class on writing children's nature literature, and use this book, along with Owl Moon by Jane Yolen, to open my first session.
