I bought this book for a friend and kept it for myself! The patterns are beautiful! I have stitched the cheetahs (Everyone of my needlepoint friends gasp when they see them.)and am working on the elephants. As the book is 50 years old, I have selected from present day available threads but the color descriptions and pictures give good idea of what to use. The only problem I have had are the eyes. Not all African cat eyes are green ( cheetah eyes are amber). If you are looking for wild, African animal patterns. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
Nature in Needlepoint.
Published by bernie4444 , 5 months ago
Designs by Eva Brent and Text by Meg Merrill. The book may be a tad old, but the nature of nature makes it hard to ever become dated. There are twenty subjects from the Animal world, complete with color-keyed graphs and Needlepoint instructions.
There are descriptions for placing the designs on graph paper. This was written before scanners and personal computers proliferated. Anyway, the basic design is sound. This is a good addition to any pattern collection.
There may be more updated versions around, as ISBN: 0671220811
