The time is the early 1670s. Tensions are growing between the woodland tribes of New England and the English who have now arrived in the area. Where the Dutch, who preceded the English, came to trade for the bounty of the land, the English have come to take the land and create settlements.
The ability of the new settlers to make devastating war has already been demonstrated to other tribes with the defeat of the Pequot.
