Born in South Kurdistan, Pary Baban was forced to flee her home village of Qaladz , resulting in a nine-day trek, traveling from village to village, where she learned to cook by collecting recipes from the people she encountered. Pary lost her cherished recipe book that she had compiled along the way, but 27 years later managed to find it, inspiring her to start her family restaurant in South London.
