Nana's Garden

By Annette Katherine Flanagan

Beautifully illustrated in watercolour and pen by Teesh Downes, 'Nana's Garden' is a story celebrating the wisdom shared between Nana and her grand daughter.

Moira loves her nana, and Moira loves nana's garden . Together they explore, and tend the garden.

Moira gets frustrated by the many weeds that 'want to take up all the space' but nana reminds her to not worry so much about the weeds, but to focus upon what she wants to grow.

Written by Australian child and family therapist Annette Flanagan, this heart warming story gently draws on her experience working with families, to show how attention, connection, and repeated experiences shape our brains, hearts, and lives.

'Nana's Garden' will be enjoyed by readers of all ages: young ones will love the many different flowers and colours and use their imaginations as Moira does, to enjoy the mysteries of the garden; older readers will find the metaphor of the garden may help them deal with anxieties and worries of their lives.Parents will welcome this colourful illustration that integrates research from interpersonal neurobiology and brings to life the words of neuroscientist Dan Siegel "where attention goes, energy flows, and neurones grow."
