The phenomenon of Midlife Dating has found its voice in Jane Ganahl. Beginning with the launch of her San Francisco Chronicle column, aSingle Minded, a and ending with her fiftieth birthday, Naked on... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I woke up in the middle of the night and just had to pick up this book and dive in again despite the complaints from my spouse about lights on at 4AM. Jane Ganahl's writing is refreshingly straightforward. She speaks with humor and clarity about the fears and the joys of being a single woman who has reached midlife with plenty of experiences, accomplishments and relationships to be proud of but who still longs for true romantic love. She doesn't try to downplay the inevitable pain in every life path and yet she always remains hopeful. Every minute of this read was great. I was left feeling awe over her strong friendships and loving family ties. I hope to have aquired half Jane's wit, grace and panache when my fiftieth rolls around in about 5 years.

"The real truth about being middle aged, a mother and single. A must read for the dating hopeful."
Jane Ganahl rocks!

I don't want to finish this book--because I hate to let go of such an engaging, honest, witty voice speaking the truth about being single and searching at the great half-century mark. Reading Jane Ganahl's delightfully funny, insightful, and touching memoir is like having a deep, long talk with a great new friend. Makes me wish I'd still lived in San Francisco when her column was running--I could have used the camaraderie in my own runup to 50! I'm going to buy an extra copy to lend around to my friends: to the complaining marrieds so they'll be reminded what's on the other side of the fence, and to the singles so they won't lose hope that we can still be hip, sexy, and open to love no matter what our age.
A grown-up, ravishing memoir!

Here's the real deal--a midlife self-discovery story that recounts life in the singles lane with wit, sass, brass, and unflinching honesty. Jane Ganahl writes of the travails of dating, aging, and launching a daughter into the world like a maestra. She is so engaging, so insightful, so funny that you finish the book in one sitting (I swear). A knock-out wonderful read.
Not Just For Unmarried Women

Jane Ganahl's hilarious, poignant, heartwrenching, insightful, and on-point book is a great reading experience that delivers life lessons with a spoonful of sugar (make that Equal, since body image is such a big part of the midlife experience!). I'm not unmarried and I read it one night, then picked it up and read it again. Highly recommended.
