Recommended for frog fans. This picture book is a work that children (target age range: 4-8 years old) will want to "read" or "read to". As stated in the "Afterword" of this book, we hope that children will feel "something" through the story. In the story, the main character, a tadpole, encounters various creatures and makes comparisons relative to nature. However, when the tadpole finally meets the mother frog, it begins to develop a sense of self-awareness. In other words, the protagonist gains confidence in his existence by recognizing himself, and from that moment on, he begins to walk with an identity. I feel this is deeply connected to human parenting. The picture book also includes an appendix page with information (photos and comments) on the growth process from tadpole to frog and the types of frogs in Okinawa. This picture book is a must-read for frog "fans.
