OH MAN I LOVE THIS BOOK! Duh! Call me an art dud since I knew nothing of the Wyeths! I'm forever hooked & ofcourse will be framing some of my favorites! I could look thru this book of magnificent artwork of NCW 100xs & need to look 100xs more! There is that wonderful realism but also fantasy world that dreams are made of! I am mad at myself that I was "self deprived" of the feast of a spectacular table laid out for my eyes to dine on! He in my opinion had a uniqueness to his style that every person of every station can enjoy & appreciate! What an infinite legacy this man left behind for all to go places in our minds that only his wonderful paintings can take us. Enthralled would be how I feel about this book!

N.C. Wyeth: Possibly the Greatest Illustrator Ever

Okay, this book isn't perfect, but I can't bring myself to rate this collection of Wyeth's beautiful paintings as anything lower than 5 stars. The bad: A few of the paintings are slightly out of focus or faded (Notably, the Robin Hood illustrations--one of which appears better on the back cover). The good: Most of these paintings are nicely reproduced. They are all shown quite large (It's a tall book). Of course, the paintings themself are beautiful. Unlike other books that I have seen, a significant portion of this book is dedicated to Wyeth's paintings of cowboys and the American West. Of course, paintings depicting the adventure from stories like Treasure Island, Kidnapped, Last of the Mohicans and others are included too. A few still life and landscape paintings are also included. Unfortunately, this book seems to be out of print, so I recommend getting it while you can. Hopefully, someone will decide to compile a set of books with quality color images of all of N.C. Wyeth's paintings. Until then, this book does a reasonable job.

So close to perfection...

This is what a book about N.C. Wyeth's work should look like. It contains crisp and colorful reproductions and they are shown in full detail. It's only a shame they don't show enough.. Wyeth produced over 2,000 illustrations in his lifetime.. it wouldn't hurt to show more. Great buy though.
