This book evaluates and compares the soft tissue healing following periodontal flap surgery when using N-butyl 2-cyanoacrylate which is a bioadhesive material and the healing seen following the use of conventional silk suture. The comparison is based on a split-mouth clinical study in patients having generalized chronic periodontitis who were indicated for Periodontal Flap Surgery. Subjective criteria such as pain, discomfort, burning or itching as well as the patient's acceptance of the materials used subsequent to approximation of periodontal flaps was evaluated. In addition, objective criteria, postoperative plaque accumulation, and gingival inflammation after the use of each suture material were assessed. The outcomes were found to be conclusive, statistically significant and definitive.
