The best in-print game book on Chinese martial arts

This book is a great effort by Palladium, and manages to capture the feel of Hong Kong martial arts action. It expands upon the material already in the Ninjas & Superspies rulebook by adding 17 new character classes and dozens of new martial arts styles and special abilities. The various aspects of Chinese mythology and culture are especially well done, covering Chinese Names, Taoists and Taoism, Alchemy, Spells, Immortals, and Monsters. Written with flair and passion, this book is a joy to read despite the rules-heavy content, even for non-gamers. This is what GURPS martial arts should have been. A worthy addition to any roleplayer's shelf.

Another great RPG book on the East; good for any gamer

Erick Wujcik does it again. I've enjoyed his TMNT and Ninjas/Superspies book; I finally got around to buying "Mystic China" 2 weeks ago and have been enjoying it very much. Still untested with my players, but it's one of those few Palladium books that is really entertaining to read as you take in all the new rules or character classes.Being a student of Asian culture, I was impressed with the amount of detail Wujcik put into this book: one entirely about China. (Will there ever be a MC supplerment or a Mystic Japan?)MC does one thing most Palladium books don't: makes the context of the "culture" of the game very explicit and playable. The whole pantheon of Chinese demons and Hell Lords is expertly described so a GM can start incorporating them into the campaign and actually build it with this material.New martial art forms (including Triad gun martial art), new Chi skills and spells (this is one of the best parts of the book), Chinese geomancy and alchemy for extra fun.Weakness: Wujcik refers to more creatures (like the Chinese dragons) which seem important in the context of MC yet they were either left out or planned to be included in the "supplement" which I guess will never see the light of day.One of the best Palladium books I've read. Full of detail on Chinese martial arts and mysticism which any gamer (non-Palladium included) would find of interest.
