The open stall bolt and breakaway of a valuable horse, blamed on Sue and reflecting badly on Dad's Blue Barn Stables, sets her to scrutinizing the customers and rival trainer Hal Sears, all competitors in one way or another. With Dad's heart attack comes added concern, aggravated by new boys working in the barn and big shows in the offing. When she's not putting the Saddle-breds through their three or five paces, ""she reviewed some of the problems involved in operating a training stable.""
