Wonderful Resource for Deeper Prayer!

"Mysteries of Light" is a wonderful tool to help deepen and broaden the depth and quality of your time with the Rosary. Within this nearly pocket sized companion (which makes carrying in your purse or briefcase easy) are the thoughts and meditations of Pope John Paul II, whose love for the Rosary as a way to sit in prayerful contemplation of the "Mysteries" of Christ's life has rekindled an interest and practice of the Rosary. "Mysteries of Light" is organized well for quick reference and, when time allows, deeper study. The 45 page book opens with a few key paragraphs from the Popes Apostolic Letter Rosarium Virginis Mariae (The Rosary of the Virgin Mary) and dedicates a page titled, "How To Pray The Rosary", which covers how the Holy Father himself advises the faithful to engage the Mysteries through the Rosary. Meditations on all of the Mysteries, including the Luminous Mysteries (referred to as the Mysteries of Light) are included, grouped in sections. In addition to some beautiful and classic artwork on each mystery by Helen Protopapadakis-Papaconstantinou, each of the individual Mysteries has its own page and each page offers the following for deeper meditation: * The name of the Mystery * The Scripture passage (the complete passage, not simply a reference) related to that Mystery * A paragraph of thoughts from Pope John Paul II for meditation * A list of related Scripture references for a more thorough examination of the Mystery I found the additional Scripture references he recommends extremely useful, as it walked me through the entire Mystery from its prophetic promise in the Old Testament, its fulfillment in the Gospels and its work in the lives of the early Church through the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit in the Post-Ascension letters and writings of the Apostles. This is a wonderful resource and will certainly offer a deeper, more complete and more Spirit-filled connection to the Rosary and to Jesus Christ Himself, who illuminates the path to the Father through his life, teaching and sacrifice, these Mysteries of Light.
