This book is a personal account of my work with the Indian Army. As I have explained in the book, my contact with the Indian Army came most unexpectedly and without warning. I was taken by complete surprise and was even quite nervous as I knew almost next to nothing about the Army and its functioning or ethos. However, it was a turning point in my life as it enlarged my vision; more important, this experience with the Armed Forces helped me to understand with great clarity the philosophy of Sri Aurobindo and Mother in its application to life. As I came into close contact with the Armed Forces and its functioning, I discovered the great role that they are playing in the preservation of all the higher values of India. This confirmed to me many of the observations on the Army made by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother to which I have referred in the book.
