In a city that never sleeps, a young Thai-Japanese freelance artist named Tatsu lived a life defined by endless deadlines and his one true companion: a fluffy white cat named Khaopun. He had found the small creature in a rain-soaked cardboard box on a day when his own life felt just as broken.
One night, as the hum of his old air conditioner lulled him into a familiar rhythm, his entire apartment building was ripped from their world without a single warning. When Tatsu opened his eyes, he, his neighbors, and the cat in his lap had stepped into a strange new land governed by unfair rules and shadowed by ever-present danger.
In this new world, people without magical power were branded as "burdens" and cast out like slaves. Tatsu and Khaopun had to fight to survive.
