After you wend your way through this book you'll REALLY know how to draw a horse!

Many art books "assume" that every youngster who picks up the book will have sufficient talent to understand, see and be able to execute very complex pieces of art simply by looking at the pages and draw something marvelous. This book makes no such assumptions and is ready to work with you and teach every step of the way. If you are crazy about horses and want to try your hand at drawing them, drawings that actually resemble horses, you'll want to at least peek inside these pages. There are no templates to follow, nothing to trace, but there are line drawings that are easy to follow and step by step instructions that make drawing easy. You will need a bit of patience, a willingness to practice, "an eraser, black felt-tip pen, and something to color with, such as markers, crayons or colored pencils." You will learn how to draw a basic horse, you'll learn the names of horse parts and tack, you'll learn how to draw a foal (side and front-facing), you'll learn about colors you can use, you'll learn how to draw face markings, make horse portraits, draw a grazing horse, draw one lying down, learn to draw an assortment of breeds, learn to draw them in different positions and learn how to draw a horse and rider. Oh, and how about learning to draw a unicorn or a winged horse! I was absolutely amazed when I, the world's worst artist, tried the methods outlined in this book and ended up with a REAL horse on my paper. If you have a younger child who is trying to draw a horse I might suggest having him or her use lined paper for their first attempts. This worked very well for me as I was able to gauge how far down the paper I wanted to go and the legs, for example, were even and not askew. My horse was not as beautiful as most in this book, but my successful experience indicated to me that anyone purchasing this book to give to a youngster would be giving a smile generator. I have no doubt that if you give this book to anyone, you can expect to see a LOT of horses gracing your walls or fridge in the near future!
