My girls loved it! Roberts writes perceptively.

My two girls loved that Fran was strong and smart. They both have had a belly full of the stereo types of girls and are relieved that there is a well written story that speaks to them. I enjoyed reading it, too! My family highly recommends this book.

Girl and Boy Baseball Book

This writer knows her baseball and fits it perfectly, seamlessly, into a story with a big heart. Fran's life has been turned upside down, but at least she's got baseball. Then even that doesn't seem to be working. A fast read with lots of substance to it. And just when things can't get much worse, they do. That's a sign of a truly good read.

Kickin' Boy Butt & Lovin' It!!!!!

Fran is so super cool! I mean she just totally kicked the baseball boys butts and they knew it. I wish I could be as good at baseball as she is to teach my brothers not to tease me about not being able to hit as far as them. I really liked how no matter how much the boys on the team were mean to her that she was sooooooooo strong, she stood up to them. And how much they needed her on the team. I was like, you go girl when (well, I shouldn't tell you too much). But for sure, I'd totally be her friend if she went to my school.

great book for pre-teen girls

I loved this book, and so did my 11-year-old daughter. I asked my daughter what she liked about it, and she said, "Fran is so cool, and what happened to her could really happen. I loved it!" My translation: the characters ring true to a kid this age, and Fran is a sympathetic heroine kids will root for.
