I am a storyteller, and that is what I have done in this book--tell stories about memorable times in my life, from the momentous to the mundane. They are not intended to be my biography or memoir. I have had an excellent career as a real estate lawyer in New York City, working at several top-tier law firms, becoming astate official, a law firm partner at age 35, and practicing with a close-knit group of attorneys as we merged, moved, and reorganized. My work has been important, but some of the most exciting and compelling tasks were pro bono, or experiences that ledme to exercise my knack for mentoring individuals, working with charities and other organizations and institutions in myvarious communities.
