My Star-Crossed Summer: A Sweet Second Chance Romance

From the award-winning author of One Sweet Holiday and The Almost Lovebirds.

When perfectionist Victoria takes a job a million miles from her comfort zone, she learns that sometimes you have to go to the middle of nowhere to find exactly where you belong.

Victoria Griffin doesn't recognize herself anymore. Feeling unmoored after breaking her engagement and blowing up her career, she's desperate for a reset. When her best friend offers her a job at a kids' camp in the Blue Ridge mountains, she hopes it'll be precisely what she needs to put her life back together.

Instead, it's a disaster. Victoria was prepared to be humbled by nature and challenged by super-smart tweens-she was not prepared to be co-counselors with Noah Valentine, her old college crush who broke her heart.

Unlike Victoria, Noah's perfectly at home in the wilderness, a hero to the kids, and radiates laid-back confidence-all while making her knees buckle with his smoldering gaze. But he's completely off-limits because of the number one staff rule: no fraternizing.

Victoria's solution? Pretend they're strangers. Pretend that sharing a tent with Noah doesn't light her up like the Fourth of July. Pretend her heart doesn't melt when he challenges her to do the hardest thing of all: to let herself be loved, just as she is.

refreshing type of office romance

After living the life of what her perfectionist mother wants, Victoria had enough. She quit her successful real-estate job, and also broke up with her toxic ex- fiance. With her savings depleting fast, she needs a job. Good thing her friend came in with an offer of becoming a counselor at a summer camp. Without other choices, she accepts and her new co-counselor is her ex- bestfriend, and the guy she kissed in college, Noah. Not gonna lie, the premise hits a bit close to home. I can't help but relate to Victoria very much. And it was such a nice ride being in her brain because I totally understand. What I really like about this book is the balance of personal growth and romance. As for Noah, he is amazing! So amazing, that he's too good to be true. He's definitely written as the ideal book boyfriend. If anything, I do appreciate that he's not flawless. I also liked his personal growth too. Victoria and Noah's romance was honestly so refreshing to me. I love that their office romance is not your typical setting. And I honestly appreciate that they realize where they are and actually respects that they are around children. It's actually kind of cute because it has that feeling of having a crush that you see around and you can't do anything about. It's quite precious. This was such a fun and entertaining read. And I appreciate the whole plot. It was so intriguing that I kind of want to read the first book in the series. * I received an eARC of this book
