My Sicily: The Right Place and Time

I grew up at the right place and time. The place was Sicily, the province of Siracusa in Eastern Sicily. The time was the years from 1950 to 1970: we were only a few years removed from WWII, life was simple. The 50's were anchored in tradition, church, an agricultural economy while the 60's witnessed an industrial boom, social unrest and changing lifestyle. The place I lived in experienced most the upheavals at the margin of events: it was a good and safe place to grow up.
