Renews Faith in The Human Race

I save precious luggage space for this book on my business trips, for it is true, inspiring, and worth savoring. When I read it in lonely hotel rooms at night, I quickly become part of a warm, compassionate, fun-loving and courageous family. I feel like I have arrivied home, perhaps even better than home. Solvig Sedlet inspires me to be my best as she weaves intergenerational and international stories of her and her parents leading their broods through some very tough situations with courage and spirit. Though some sad things happen, this is anything but book about being a victim. Its stories ring with love,life's best victory. In these wearing times of scandals, terroism, wars, and rumors of war, this book renews my faith in the Human race.

Heartwarming and Heartwrenching biography

I just finished reading a borrowed copy of this book, and I went out and bought one for myself after reading it! This energetic and honest woman has taken us right into her life, and made us feel we have grown up and grown older with her. The beauty of her childhood, seeing her country taken over by Nazis, living in a new country, the struggles of her widowhood, and the agony of a child with mental disease - if it were a novel, one might say it has too many plots, but mature women will recognize the sisterhood we share, our lives filled with so many plots.

An Intriguing Tale

This memoir provokes the reader to reflect upon their own life journey and the different epochs that shaped their lives. Solveig Sedlet is not only a talented writer, she is a wonderful human being. This text is well-constructed and was 10 years in the working. I highly recommend it!
