Hey! I'm John Sullivan, a recent high school graduate who collected his thoughts and dreams and hopes and fears and all kinds of other stuff in a year-long diary through his senior year. When I... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Michael Fitzgibbons has written a novel men and women of all ages will enjoy. I couldn't put it down. It seemed to read just as fast as any senior year would go. I laughed out loud, and even cried as I read the accurate portrayal of high school life. I highly recommend reading My Senior Year. As a college senior I found it just as appropriate to my life. The characters are real and the situations are true. The book does a fantastic job of showing how you never think life will be more complicated than it is as a high school senior. Thank you Mr. Fitzgibbons for writing a novel that I'll have my own children read years from now.
A Sure Thing for You and Your Teeanger!

Warn your seatmates if you read this book on a plane or train this summer because you will be laughing out loud at the exploits of John Sullivan (Sully) as he and his friends navigate their way through their senior year at Iroquois High School. The acknowledged stud of his class, Sully agonizes over his inability to connect with the girl he has loved since 6th grade, Janice Ackerman. This doesn't prevent him from engaging in a variety of relationships with other girls; however, most of whom he alienates one night after consuming a bit too much alcohol. Sully faces the wrath of the principal when he finds Sully on the school roof after a football game, too drunk to run away; and the wrath of his parents when they are informed about the "prank." Regaining his parents' trust, falling in love with a girl from another school, keeping on the good side of his teachers, and avoiding any more legal entanglements keep Sully busy until the ultimate senior year event nears, Prom!. Unbelievably, Sully is without a date (especially humiliating when his friends are all dating Sully's exes). Don't be put off my the length of this novel. Every parent should read it for his/her teenager's sake; every teenager should read it for his/her own. If you have ever been a senior in high school, know someone who has, or one day hope to be, this book is for you. As a high school librarian and the mother of three teenagers, I can attest to the fact that yes, young men really do drink and swear as much as they do in "My Senior Year," but they also open doors for you, visit lonely senior citizens, worry about what girls think about them, and play video games with their little brothers.

As a senior in High School I believe that this book really shows just how crazy life really is going from day to day in school. Somedays everything is perfect, and the next day everything falls apart. Mr. Fitzgibbons really shows this through the eyes of "Sully" and I think that the form that it is written; through a diary gives us a chance to not only read about what goes on day to day, but also gives us the chance to understand his deepest and truest feelings about it.
