Do you see the hole in the doughnut, or the doughnut itself?
This seemingly simple question has always fascinated me, because it reveals just how your perceptions shape our reality. Throughout life, we're shaped and conditioned by our beliefs, emotions, and experiences that colour the way we see the world. But what if reality isn't fixed at all? What if it's fluid, a living canvas, constantly reshaped by how we think, feel, and choose to engage with it?
In My Perception of Reality, a collection of short stories written in 2012 and lovingly revisited in 2025, I invite you to walk with men this journey, both in South Africa and during my travels beyond. These stories offer quiet reflections and bold truths, each one a window into moments of love, loss, discovery and becoming. Together, they form a deeply personal exploration of what it means to be human and how our inner world shapes the one we live in.
