Before I begin this review I should lay my cards on the table. I met Morse Hamilton once and was very close to one of his daughters. I only began to read his work after his death. His work is difficult to find but I enjoy it and have never been disappointed. If you have never heard of Morse Hamilton you should look into his work. His children's literature is excellent and his young adult literature has a bite to it that, at first, may make you take a step back but will quickly grow on you. I encouage everyone to read his entire body of work making sure not to miss Effie's House, Yellow Blue Bus and Belching Hill. As a history teacher I have found his cultural insite to particular periods of time outstanding. Hamilton was a first rate writer and I have heard a first rate teacher. Both are evident in his work.
