A Therapist's Approval

This book celebrates the stepparent transition for a young child without ignoring that there might be some bumps along the way. I am a therapist, and it is important for parents to understand that it is necessary to probe even very young children to find out how they may feel about this new transition. Probing and recognizing that your child might have some reservations about getting a stepparent will not put ideas into your child's head. You would be surprised that ALMOST ALL young children even as young as three will experience some negative feelings with a stepparent's arrival. It is vital that these feelings are not ignored at a young age for healthy childhood development. I cannot stress this enough. Praise to the author to bringing this to light!

My girls loved the book!!

My girls loved the book!! They kept asking me, "read it again, Mommy, read it again." Their father started to date, and the book really helped them feel better about him dating. I recommend this book for anyone who is a single parent and starting to date.

Finally there is a book that talks to children about stepfamilies . . .

This is obviously a delicate subject but finally there is a book out that talks to children about being a part of a stepfamily. How else will kids begin to learn to deal with their mother or father moving on with their lives? Some parents have absolutely no idea what to tell their kids, most often they say nothing and the kids have to deal with it on their own. The 5 year old in my stepfamily requests this book to be read to her more often than any other book in the family library. I guess that says it all.

Wow! This is so great for kids!!

All I can say is wow! Finally there is a children's book that is both entertaining and educational for children. This book is up to date with the real world and I wish there was something around like this when we were kids! I think that if there were more books like this, children would feel so much better about the changes their families go through and they would realize that change can be good and they are not alone in their feelings. It is extremely well written and informative to children without loosing it's "story book" appeal
