I had heard many horror stories, read several books, and had conversations with my doctor, but nothing could have prepared me for the roller coaster ride that menopause was about to take me on. I consider myself to be a great self-advocate, especially related to my health, but how do I advocate for something that changes every day, at any given moment, without my permission?

There was no magic pill, cream, or vaginal insert to make it all go away. Menopause is so rude, and I learned quickly to embrace her and ask if she wanted to sit and have tea because her visit was going to be long. I sat in bed crying one night and decided to journal my thoughts. This became therapeutic for me, and my tears turned into laughter as I began to put words to my feelings.
