Even as a small child, Dr. Mary T. Dycio was enthralled with the idea of being a doctor and she never let go of her dream. With great courage, determination, and focus, she followed her medical dream: from a tiny Ukrainian village in the throes of World War Two, across many international borders from one war-torn country to another, until she finally landed on the shores of the United States of America in 1950 where she became a board certified doctor and specialist in Anesthesiology. She and her Ukrainian husband, George, an Ob-Gyn, settled in Maine in 1957 and raised two sons while continuing their medical professions until they retired.
