My Lemonade Recipe: Turning Life's Sour Experiences Into Something Sweet

I felt my story was not anyone's business. But the moment I realized my transparency could help someone. I decided to write. I decided to give hope to those who feel hopeless. My desire is to encourage and inspire anyone who wonders if there really is a light at the end of the tunnel. God turned my situation around, and I believe He can do the same for you. As you read, I pray God will use the words of this book to strengthen you. He loves you so much! Your connecting with me through this book is just one way for Him to remind you that you are not alone. If you fear people will judge you and choose not to understand your experience, you are not alone. If shame, guilt, confusion, fear, or embarrassment keeps you silent, you are not alone. If you are tired of hurting, tired of being depressed, and ready to be free then you are not alone. Our journeys might not be the same, but our desired destination is. We desire to be free from a past that is painful; to move forward with an undeniable confidence that life is worth living and we will live it to the fullest. Some may say, "Why are you sharing your story?" Well, I believe it is important that we talk about the great things God has done for us. Our testimony also encourages others and reminds them that healing and restoration can be theirs too! It has not always been easy sharing my story. At one point, I was embarrassed and engulfed with secrecy. I confided with only a few people during that time but mostly used journaling to process my thoughts. I'm not just going to share my story but throughout the book, a few excerpts of my journal as well. "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!" is a proverbial phrase used to lift your spirit and give hope when experiencing the trials of life. A friend of mine refers to my story as the "Lemonade Recipe". I was given a bag of lemons. They were extremely sour and they were not going anywhere. What was I to do with these sour lemons? I had a lot of other ingredients; some were pleasant and some were not pleasant. I longed for God to give me the best recipe possible with the ingredients I had, and that He did. He added His thoughts and ideas. From the heart of God and my heart, we unitedly developed this sweet and refreshing recipe.
