My Journey with the word of GOD

As a young believer in Christ, I was intrigued by the worship and knowledge displayed by my Sunday school new members' teacher. She gazed at you, and you started confessing what you did last night, even if it was just going to bed late. The young believers felt the Lord always told Sister Mac what they were doing. When she prayed, the hour-hand on the clock shifted before she uttered amen. One of her quotes was, "Lord, you said we should be holy because you are holy." I, therefore, felt her way was the only way to be a believer in Christ or to please God. The dejected feeling was one of the biggest lies I told myself. I didn't perceive that she started as a young believer and became a mature saint. Growing up as one of six children on the Island of Jamaica, it was forcefully impressed upon me verbally and physically that children were to be seen and not heard. I was a friendly sister who always wanted to share my thoughts with others. I heard "shut up" more than I care to acknowledge. I often read Psalm 27, yet what I grew up responding to always overrides what the Word of God said over my life.
