A wonderfully written book about the changes taking place in rural America in 1941. Told by a young new Vassar graduate from Long Island who journeys to the heart of rural Appalachia, this story describes the rich and simple textures of the mountains as the winds of change begin to blow. A very interesting read with great pictures from the era. Highly recommend for anyone.
