In this book, the first in his "Christian Dialogues" series, the author, Gary P Ferguson proposes that Christianity was never intended to "replace" the other Abrahamic religions, (Judaism and Islam) but instead was provided by God to stand alongside them, as the only way for Gentiles to receive salvation. For Gentiles were not included in the Covenant with Abraham, and were forbidden to enter the Temple in Jerusalem. With this new interpretation, all people who worship the God of Abraham can proclaim there is but one true God, but only Christians can add that there is but one true Son, created by the Father to save the Gentiles of the world. For prior to Jesus, the Gentiles had no path to the one true God, but in His Mercy, with His own Son, He provided one for them. For as a loving Father, he wished to not forbid anyone to worship Him. So that "whosoever believeth in Him should not perish...."
