Great Spanish/Enlgish Kids Book - keeps them interested!

I bought this for my daughter. She has been looking at this book since she was 8 months old. The book is very well worn and sturdy enough to withstand some ruff treatment. She is now 14 months and loves lifting the flaps to see what is behind them, while I read both the Spanish and English words. I like how there is the reference point for the correct pronouciation of words great for an Enlgish speaker. This is a great book I wish I could find more like this.

Ages 2-6 will enjoy and learn with this, but...

... but be sure you are familiar with the pronunciation of the Spanish words. I love most all the titles by Berlitz, and there is a little phonetic guide in the front, but it's not exhaustive. Having the phonetic spelling by each vocabulary word is imperative, in my view (which is the way we present all new words in Flip Flop Spanish books.) As a Spanish teacher, I often get students in my classes that have been exposed to the language by their parents, which I applaud. Unfortunately, their accent and pronunciation is terrible on so many words, that we spend a great deal of time un-learning the wrong pronunciation of the correct vocabulary. To clarify, you can use the online resources and hear the words, or you can go to the back of the book to get the pronunciation, but this is a step that I have not seen any of my students use yet. For this age, having the pronunciation immediately available is just too important. All that being said, this is a GREAT tool for Spanish classrooms and any child ages 2 to 6 or so. My seven year old enjoys saying the words, as well, on a "timed" schedule, and he enjoys quizzing his friends and fellow classmates with this book, because the sturdy flaps are easy to use, and less cumbersome than flash cards for his age. It's not overwhelming, and they do a good job of choosing words that are not too distinct from Spain or Latin America - meaning, these words will be recognized in any Spanish speaking country.
