When I wrote this book in 2010, I talked about how the inspiration came as I noticed my children's eyes; they have beautiful eyes like Donald, their father. While my children do have various traits of mine, it amazes me how they all have their father's eyes. As I pondered on this thought early one Thursday morning, this natural reality became a spiritual truth that transformed into the writing of this book. Today, it still reminds me of the importance of having your Father's eyes--your Heavenly Father's eyes. What does it mean to have your Heavenly Father's eyes? It means that as children of God, we see people not only with our natural eyes but with our spiritual eyes as well; we see them with our hearts. Hearts indwelled by the Holy Spirit filled with God's unconditional love. Matthew 6:22 says, "The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light." When your heart is filled with God's love, you won't look for fault in others, you will look for good. You will see what they are capable of through Jesus Christ. You will see others the way God sees them." Why is it so important to have your Heavenly Father's eyes? It is important that we see one another through the eyes of our Heavenly Father because it is a great foundation that helps our relationships be what God intends. It is also important to have our Heavenly Father's eyes because we are then able to recognize the enemy's tricks and schemes trying to pit us against each another, distorting what's priority and trying to ruin important relationships.
