A True Gem

This book was one of my favorites as a child! The colors used in the illustrations are so vibrant and the girl is so unique and fun! Also, I feel her interest can relate to any girl and encourage her blossom just as Maria, the main character, did. I, personally, know I related to a couple of her interest, which in turn made me more interested in the book as well. I also have another book from this author(The Sawfin Sickleback - A Very Fishy Story). I enjoyed both these stories very much as a child and both were stories I would want read to me over and over again. Both had interesting, imaginative plots that were simply fun! I have not a clue how my mom got a hold of this book while it was in print, but I know I want to keep this gem of a book for my children. :)

A great book about accepting yourself

This is one of my favorite's children's books. The artwork is great but the message is better. Maria wakes up one morning and finds that her hair is full of colors. Each day after that her hair is different, full of animals, books and even all kinds of people. She learns that she is all the things in her hair, not just a little girl, but a little girl that is multi-faceted and talented. I love it!
