Pt. Sujan Rane is a professional Hindustani Classical Singer cum Portrait-Painter. He has received long training lasting 30 years from Pt. Phiroz Dastur associated with the Music Department of Bombay University, and a doyen of the well-known singing style Kirana Gharana of Abdul Karim Khan in India. Pt. Rane has presented recitals at some of the known institutions like Nehru Center, London, U.K. the Benares Hindu University, Varanasi, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Bombay, I.T.C. Sangeet Research Academy, Calcutta and Kala Academy, Goa etc. in India. Pt. Rane was invited by Cambridge University in 2018, in recognition of his book "Learning Hindustani Classical Vocal Music " for its Library. Later this book was accepted by the Oxford University Library, U.K. and Library of U.S. Congress, Washington, D.C., U.S.A. Pt. Rane has been painting portraits for the last 40 years. He has painted portraits of distinguished personalities like the former Ruler of Oman, Sultan Qaboos, former Prime Minister of India Mrs. Indira Gandhi, U.S. Republican Senator Mr. Peter Inverso of New Jersey, U.S.A., Industrialist, Late Mr. Shriyans Prasad Jain connected with The Times of India Group of Companies, Swami Chinmayanand for Chinmaya Mission of New Jersey, U.S.A., Swami Vivekanand for Vivekanand Center, Kanyakumari, South India. Pt. Rane has also held exhibitions of his paintings at Convention Center, Calgary, Canada, Nehru Art Gallery, Bombay and Shanmukhanand Cultural Center, Bombay. He has donated his oil Portraits Hindustani Classical Musicians to well-known Institutions in India like Bombay University, Poona University, Benares Hindu University, Varanasi, and Maharaj Sayajiraw University, Baroda, so also to Film & Television Institute of India, Poona.
