Lila and her grandpa live on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia, where Grandpa works as a fisherman. When huge boats begin to rob the sea of its fish, Grandpa has to find another way to make a living.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is a truly unique and wonderful book for children (and adults). Besides the amazing paintings and accurate depiction of the beauty of St. Lucia, the book deals so gracefully with some pretty heavy topics: ecological dilemmas, religion, and the bonds of grandparents. We have what seems like thousands of children's literature in our house; I have two kids, 9 and 5. I am an elementary school teacher of thirteen years, and this really is my favorite kids book. A no-brainer for concientious parents.
