In My Grandmother's Treasures Cassie McAllister teaches her fourteen-year-old granddaughter, Tessa, about their family's history by telling her the stories of the items in her jewelry box. Each piece, related in some way to Tessa's family, has a story from a different place or time. At the same time that Grandma is telling the stories, however, another story is developing between Grandma and her daughter, Vivian Stewart. The two of them fight a running feud throughout the summer, and Tessa is a helpless bystander as her mother and grandmother square off against each other over some issue that neither will discuss with her. Grandma is clearly up to something and her daughter does not approve. Daughter Vivian thinks Grandma Cassie is either off her medication or may be ready for a "keeper." In the end everybody's in for a surprise.
