Stuart Linnell's Mum worried what was going to happen to her son, a post World War II boom baby who had appeared to flitter away his education on what she regarded as a wasteful and pointless obsession with sport, music and radio. When he told her that he aspired to a life embracing those interests she despaired. It didn't turn out too badly as he became an award-winning radio presenter for the BBC and for commercial stations. His career also encompassed a time in the board room as a commercial radio executive, and as a TV presenter. He was honoured by the Queen, and he met Prime Minsters and Presidents as well as many stars of sport and entertainment. He hopes his Mum would have been proud after all.
