My Gambling Life Living In a Truck

I am an educated man that works for the Government who developed a gambling addiction that not only destroyed my marriage but also my self-respect. I was a compulsive gambler and got to the point I owed bills, taxes and took out too many loans and screwed up my credit. Well, when you screw up your credit, who is going to allow you to be able to rent an apartment, especially in the DC area...not too many. Since I have been facing the reality of my self-destruction and it's consequences, instead of accepting family/friends help (and YES, they offered) or declaring bankruptcy, I initially had taken stock and made the commitment to pay off my debts and rebuild my finances as part of the recovery process. I truly believe I MUST work off the debt to truly internalize the price of my addiction, and reinforce the recovery.So, I thought of the possibility of taking what I earn from work and trying to get out of debt and for a short time live in my truck. Granted we are talking the end of Jan, so it was not summertime and in actuality a pretty cold period weatherwise. I apparently started off thinking this would only be a few months and turned into a much longer period of time than I even expected. So, this is my story of living in a bed of a truck. Jan 31st 2016 - Nov 18 2016...10 1/2 months, then finally telling myself not only did I need help, but a way to actually getting help. I think that was the toughest part of anything else, is finding the right place and people to aid in my recovery and starting to live a normal life again without gambling.This book will take you through my most difficult times and the start of recovery from a horrible addiction.
