Quinn Alexander has committed an unthinkable crime. To avoid spending her life in prison, she makes a run for it. But when an unexpected snowstorm forces her off the road, Quinn must take refuge at the broken-down, isolated Baxter Motel. The kindly owner, Nick Baxter, is only too happy to offer her a cheap room for the night. Unfortunately, the Baxter Motel has a dark and disturbing past. And in the dilapidated house across the way, the silhouette of Nick's ailing wife is always at the window. Always watching. In the morning, Quinn must leave the motel. She'll pack up her belongings and get back on the road to freedom. But first, she must survive the night.

Perfect

A beautiful book. He paints what it means to be human with his words .

MY FRIENDS are YOUR Friends and OUR FRIENDS

Perfect psychological humanitarian storm of stream of consciousness!! This book really honed in how definitive relationships in family, society, community forms ones values, ethics, direction, passion and life choices and journeys. I am an Artist and Psychotherapist and thought this story was so telling how we make assumptions, judgements and yet with support of friends our lives can interchange, grow and be fulfilled while fulfilling others dreams!

My Friends

I love everything Fredrick Backman writes, and this is no exception. Great!

Honestly

It's a bit slow in parts but the writing is so good you just keep going and you want to find out what happens to everyone.

Absolutely no complaints

I felt every emotion possible reading this book. ❤️

Well written characters, real relationships

While this book is heartbreaking at times, the characters felt so real, I wanted to keep reading to find out how they’re doing. I like how Backman can create characters that are both annoying and likable, frustrating yet entertaining. Just like real life, right?

It was ok

Decent characters, book clips along but waited for along time for this book to become available as it was hyped and it was a well-just ok

His Best Yet

Fredrik Backman writes in a way that shows he understands what it means to be human. What’s remarkable about him is his ability to grasp age groups and genders and write from the heart from different perspectives. This is my favorite book of his so far. He’s able to breathe meaning into our wounds and heartache with a wisdom I admire. He also is a master of twists, so his stories are that much more captivating. I just finished “My Friends” and will read it again with a pencil close by to underline his many quotable quotes.
