My First Trip to Africa

Dexter Runyambo was born in Hurstville, a suburb South Sydney in Australia.

His parents were born in Rwanda and mother was eight and his father was twelve when they survived the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda in 1994. Dexter's grandparents and many of his uncles, aunties and cousins were murdered in the genocide. His parents later migrated to Australia and have been living in Sydney for the last ten years.

It was in 2019 when Dexter's mum took him to Rwanda to show him the extended family, and have an adventure in a different country for the first time. Dexter was five years old when he went for a such exciting trip. He discovered so many things from day one at Sydney international airport and the entire time he spent in Africa until the day he returned to Australia.
