Lovely

My 10 month old loves this book. He has just learned how to turn board pages and this is one of his favorites to page through over and over again. I appreciate how the illustrations equally tell the story. My 5 and a half year-old son is just learning to read and enjoys sharing this book with his baby brother. The older one can identify with the main character's experience going on a hike, too. I have read many board books and I now realize that a lot of them are picture books for older children forced into this format with too much text. Another current set of board books are empty design concepts geared towards trendy adult aesthetics. My First Hike is refreshingly different. It is simple and in tune with with the thoughts of young children, conveying a lovely message about family, gratitude, and simple wonders in nature.

Beautiful illustrations and touching message make this so appealing for the littlest book lovers (and the people who read to them). A reminder of the sweet gift of family and the natural world.

Perfect for very young children

The endearing and warmly colorful illustrations are so welcoming to a very young child, and the quietly supportive story about learning to enjoy new experiences is just right. My little grand-nephew loves this book! And so do I!

MY FIRST HIKE

I gave this book to my young great-grandson, and the whole family and I were so delighted with it that I gave four additional copies to some of his little friends. The book is beautiful. The story is simple but uplifting and instructive. The illustrations are exquisite, and I hope we will hear more from this talented artist-author.
