I am not sure about the other reviewer but the attrativeness comes from the different typesof colored foil. The book is huge to begin with and consist of about 5 pages. The pictures are big enough for any child to look at and learn. Some of the pictures uses the colored foil to bring ir divert the attention form the less common pictures in a typical picture book. I have three kids and all of them love this book. Even when I ran my daycare all the kids would swarm or first choose this book to look at.

I picked this up at a bookstore in the remainder bin, and it was definitely worth the less than five dollars I paid for it. While it's not all that beautifully designed and the "learning" aspects are quite pedestrian, it is the largest board book I have ever found, which my son loves, and it's taken a lot of abuse. The "illustrations" (really basic and quite dull line drawings) throughout are overlaid with prismatic foil, which is the real attraction in addition to the sturdy board book construction and large size. Even the clock, with its moving hands, is holding up well, though as my husband noted, it will no doubt fall apart before our son is old or interested enough to actually learn to tell time.
