Keeley Steele sixteen joins a new high school after the death of her parents, having to move across the country to live with her grandparents. Keeley loves to run but finds out that in this new school, sports are everything. If you are not big, tall, or fast, you are regulated to be a second-class student. Since Keeley is none of these, she is continuously bullied by the star athlete, Briana, and her circle of wanna-bees. Coach Tom sees something special in Keeley and with the help of his sister, who is an ultra-distance elite athlete, they bring out the best in Keeley, and in doing so, changes everyone around her. The teen issues covered are school bullying, mental and physical abuse, death of loved ones, loneliness, dealing with an unknown future, following your dream, and a terror filled incident of every woman's concern while running - being attacked.
