A Truly Remarkable Love Story!

What a thoroughly engaging romantic love story between two people from different racial backgrounds--different social and economic stata. Its a story about true respect, love, communication and decency. Deanna is a hardworking middle-class black woman who runs her deceased father's PI business---and she's built a reputation as being very good at her job. Benjamin, on the other hand, is a very wealthy white businessman who took control of the family's multi-million dollar business and family responsibilities when his father died. These two people are so very, very likeable, as are their close family and supportive friends. And, well the villains, as always, were true to form. This book was well-crafted with great pacing and plotting. I even got that kind of warm and fuzzy feeling that one might get when enjoying a hot cup of cocoa with the one you love on a cold wintry night. I think many romantic novels these days are missing something very basic---romance!! You know, that wine me, dine me and dazzle me kind of romance. Well, you'll find that and more in this book. My Everything is a very worthwhile read. You wont regret it or forget it!!

Excellent!

I loved this book! From start to finish I was captivated by Ben and Deanna. Although Deanna was a strong and competent PI, her weakness was trusting her cousin. That's what made this story so believable. The main characters were made human with their strengths as well as their weaknesses. The supporting characters were developed well too. This book is worth every penny! Can't wait for Ms.Skelton's next book.

Refreshing!

This was a refreshing interracial read. The story had me gripped from page 1. The lead characters were strong and the support characters helped to add breadth to the story. The only thing I struggled with was how a strong independent sister like Deanna could put up with her trifling cousin and her ways for as long as she did. One of the reasons I enjoyed the story, is the feel that it would have worked whatever colour the characters were because the writer did not get too invovled in the racial issues side of the matter. Don't get me wrong Denise Skelton did not hide from the issues but she did not drown the story with them either. All in all a very good read - I will definitely be reading this one again.

tantalizing

A female PI, a wealthy businessman, a slightly nuts-o ex girlfriend, and a vindictive cousin are the main characters in Denise Skelton's "My Everything." Benjamin Harrison is on a mission to save his sister's life by hiring Dee Meyers and Meyers Investigations to search out the half sister he has never known. In need of a bone marrow transplant, his sister has precious time to live. Dee takes a special interest in the case after getting to know Ben, and their working relationship teeters on becoming becomes something much more. Hesitant to get involved, Dee is concerned over the way her friends have handled their own interracial relationships, and her job doesn't exactly show her the best side of humanity. Will Ben be able to win her over? He tries very hard! But other obstacles are in the way. Janet, Ben's ex, and Dee's cousin Terry want nothing less than to come in between Ben and Dee. One of them is willing to go to great lengths to achieve this goal; one of them is willing to kill. This work of fiction is an interesting look at relationships, and also a glimpse into the real drama of private investigations. The story flows well and offers surprises here and there. A romance set in reality; I feel the book will be well received. The writing is flawless and captivating. This is not your typical PI novel, but something else entirely. I enjoyed the read and savored the story. I trust readers will find it tantalizing. Review by Heather Froeschl
