This book is well-written, action-filled, exciting, and not a hard read. You feel you have lived in the time of the Spanish Inquisition. I was moved to know what Christians went through to stay true to their Reformed Faith in a time of such hatred toward Christians. Highly recommended!

I read this last year over two days' time. It's an incredible adventure that seems too wild to be true, although it's purported to be historical fact. The book begins with a Spanish nobleman's truly miraculous escape from the Spanish Inquisition, involves concealed identities and all sorts of unexpected twists and turns, and ends in Paris at the time of the St. Bartholomew's Day massacre. A highly enjoyable way to learn a bit about church history. Recommended for reading alone or aloud to kids about aged 12 and up.
