My Enemy...My Brother by Hanna Shahin - An Intriguing Read!

An eye-opening, thought provoking book! It was over too soon. I don't read non-fiction very much because I love getting lost in a story and the imagery in reading fiction, but My Enemy...My Brother reads like fiction--there's plenty of story, plenty of imagery. And the fact that it's autobiographical makes it all the more compelling. It's well-written and the author did a great job in getting us into the moment, experiencing what he lived through. I highly recommend this book, and sharing it with your church staff. It really moves us to think outside of the perceptions and labels we so easily fall into and use--those wall-builders between us and someone Christ wants to reach through us.

Hanna's Autobiography

An autobiography, this book follows the life and ministry of Hanna Shahin. Hanna is a Palestinian Christian who grew up in and around Jerusalem. From those humble beginnings Hanna is now the founder and president of an international radio ministry reaching out to people in the in the Middle East. This is the story of that journey. The beginning of the book gives some family and personal history on how it was to grow up as a Palestinian Christian. Reading the first chapter was culturally informative. When his life starts to have interesting interactions and conflicts, both internally and externally, that is when the book really picks up. The book is a series of shorts chapters that jump to various important anecdotes from his life. This writing style is almost a reflection of his life. Plugging along, doing the work, interspersed with a number of revelations and encounters to throw off one's plans! If you read this book on a surface level you will still gain a good deal of information about Arabic culture, life in Israel, living as a Palestinian Christian in the Middle East and the establishment of a successful international ministry. But if you read this book on a deeper lever you can experience how God has changed Hanna's attitudes and heart through the course of his life and hopefully let he lessons he has learned teach you too.

FANTASTIC - MUST-READ BOOK

Anyone who calls themselves a Christian or follower of Christ - needs to read this book and learn God's heart for the MidEastern peoples
