Book report by Joy-Ann Pearce ( Scottsdale , Arizona )

"My dog ate it" by Saragail Katzman Benjamin The main characters of this story are Danny, Mrs. McCardle, Danny's mom and dad, the dog called Homework and Danny's friends called Eric, Tommy, Martha, Francy and Evie. A boy called Danny Wilder wishes he can fail 5th grade and still be cool at the same time. His teacher, Mrs. McCardle, has a plan so he will pass 5th grade. She has a dog, named Homework, and he is a very unusual dog because he can eat homework and he can talk ! First Danny is not happy that he is supposed to help him with his assignments but after a while they become friends. To the end of the book Homework leaves Danny when he needs him the most at the "Think-off" Contest. Finally, he realizes what studying and doing homework is all about. The settings are at many places including, Danny's house, the neighborhood and at school. It is a fiction book because there is no such thing in real life, as a talking dog that does your homework. I loved the book because it shows some of the problems that children have in life and how they can be solved. I think the moral of the story is to do your own homework.

Many people grow up, all you need is help.

Many people grow up, all you need is help, these are things that Danny needed to pass and realise that if he stayed back he would be made fun of. Danny was a really smart and funny person but he needed to find out himself, he did this in a way, that confused many people.Overall this book taught me a lot, in many ways. Things like how everyone grows up eventually, or no matter how bad or good you do, you now that you tried your hardest and thats all what really counts and also that you have fun. This book has also taught me many more things that I could tell you but if you want to, go get this book and read it and see what it can teach you. It was a great book to read and it kept me wanting to read it, which is a very strange thing. I have had this book since I was, atleast 9 or 10 but, I had never even read the back of the book till today, at the age of 12. So I hope you read this and go to fine this book at a book store or your closest library.Thanx, Hope you enjoy the book.By: Shauna

I think the book My Dog Ate It is very excellent

I selected this book because I was drawn to it , I was drawn because I am a person who dosen't like homework .My favorite part of the book is when Danny had first met the invisible dog , that was the best part because he had met his bestfriend .The characters and settings are well very described in the book , I can picture everything in it .The way the author used the words in each paragraph is phenomenon, the words are used with great dilingency they are a little below my level .I liked the way the illiustrator illiustrated the cover ,it was cute and creative. The parts that I found suprising was when Danny had decised to do his homework and when he felt good about getting A's. This book has changed the way I felt about doing homework,It gave me the extra strive to reach .The setting of the story takes place in school, Danny's house, and at the park .The settings are very important because it tells the places Danny talks the invisible dog , sometimes in public. This book was execellent and I would like to read mor books by him .I would persuade my freind to read this book because the book has the extra edge that other children books don't .

I need a dog to eat my homework, too!

MY DOG ATE IT is a great book about a boy named Danny who wants to stay in the fifth grade forever. He has an idea about how to stay in the fifth grade: by not handing in his homework! Mrs. McCardle doesn't believe the excuses he comes up with. I recommend this book if you don't like doing your homework, like me. I hate homework because if there is a hard problem, I have to use a calculator. I hate homework because jumping off a cliff and flying is easier! If homework were candy, I might eat it. I hate homework because it is not candy. My teacher gives me so much homework that they should make a place called "Homework Territory" and just send me to it forever! That's why kids like me like this book so much!
